Skyrim Promise to Keep Bug Fix

This video shows you the Promise to Keep quest line which includes a bugged finish. I am showing this video because I discovered how to get past the bug and finish the quest. This bug happened to me every time I attempted to speak with Mayven Black-Briar.

In short you need to locate the lineage papers before you steal the horse. I show where it is located in the video, but if you rather just be told where it is, it can be found in the basement of the Black-Briar Lodge.

Thanks friend!! Really helped me out. One question; Can somebody tell me if there is some sort of requirement to behead someone? I know that finishing moves are performed randomly but I haven't had the luck yet to perform one myself. I don't know, could the reason of this be that I have the PS3 version or that I don't have my One-handed skill at a master level? If someone knows please tell me.

@TheSeeker1996 I have noticed that using dual one handed swords causes more frequent beheading, but I haven't had any luck with two handers.

I got attacked by the assassin on mine at the beginning of the game. lol

I dont know if this happened to anyone else, but i had a different problem, i did everything right, got the papers and stole the horse, but when i went to louis to return it he just started attacking me and i cant talk to him to finish the quest, Help?

@Roach724 Two Handed its a perk skill the same as One Hand Weapons 25% chance of decapitations.

PLEASE HELP! I seem to have a different bug... I can't start the quest. I talked to Louis Letrush and he said he has work for me, but the dialog option won't pop up. Does anyone know if there are any requirements to start this quest or how to fix it? (P.S. I'm level 58 and have gotten pretty far through the thieves guild quest line)

@ATurtleSlaps I went back to Riften and waiting for about a day for her to appear in the town no luck. After about 24 hours I went back outside where Frost was still waiting for me, so I got back on him and headed back to Letrush to see what would happen. He didn't attack me for some reason this time and I was able to persuade him to give me the horse. So, all I can suggest is take Frost to Riften, pass some time by sleeping or waiting, and keep trying until it works.

@ATurtleSlaps Same here. I love this game but it's full of broken missions like this. Anyone know how to deal with this bullshit? Console command, maybe?

i've the same problem and after watching this video i returned to that place but i didn't see any papers there... the top was completely empty!!! any ideas?

btw 000E8BDB is the id of this item but i have no console (~) there
