  • I'm pretty sure most atheists would happily believe in whatever God or Gods there is evidence for.... but there isn't any. Atheists don't claim absolute certainty that God or Gods don't exist, they simply say they have not yet been convinced by any evidence, or any theistic argument. This idea of absolute certainty that non believers have is a common strawmam theists love to use, but it is not true. This guys entire spiel is bogus.

  • @lardhat He didn't say that what we say about God doesn't matter, he said what we say about God isn't absolute, which makes assertions about God a lot more like any other (non-absolute) assertion.

Is God a midget? Probably not, but our lack of "certainty" isn't a real problem. Is there a hobo living on my roof? - I don't look at the roof much; it's possible, I suppose.

You don't have to be able to define X to talk meaningfully about it - I'm sure you can think of examples.

  • This is the kind of Christianity I'm interested in. Thank you Marcus Borg.

  • What a tiresome way of saying pretty much nothing...

"God is all that matters. Not what we say about him."

Well, then i guess he admits he cannot say God is not a midget.

If nothing you say about X matters, then what does it mean to say X is important? What the heck is X??

  • awesome speech...too much editing, but thanks for posting

  • Wow a commercial, ideas for a dollar. When you have something important to say you should be willing to say it for free. Free thought seems to be dead.

  • @Ralph1Waldo man, you got that right. I just stopped watching and just listened

  • I am overall impressed by what I hear from this guy. I agree that the God of theism was basically buried as a rational concept with the Age of Enlightenment, but that does not mean that there is no God. It just means that theism is bad metaphysics.

  • like concept of god..like idolatry speal..not crazy bout radical monotheism, but this guy is certaintly on to something and think he is what christianity could really use

  • @gtg309v sometimes we make an idol of our ideals and worship them instead of living them
