American Muslims hold special prayers for the Night of Power, Laylat al-Qadr, inside the Unity Center mosque in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, on Sept. 26-27, Friday-Saturday, 2008. They beseech God, Allah, for forgiveness and conduct special prayers throughout the night, on which Muslims believe the beginning of the holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed through angel Gabriel. In this video, an American Muslim asks God for forgiveness. In the photographs, people pray and later gather for a community breakfast before dawn. Night of Power ceremonies, known as Eyhaa, or revival, are increasingly popular in metro Detroit, where the Muslim community has grown in recent years. Some stay inside the mosque for the last 10 days of Ramadan, a retreat known as itikaf. They sleep inside the masjid for the 10 days and depend on food from others during that time. • I think it's Night of Destiny, not power. Qadr means Destiny.

In this night, we ask for forgiveness because it is said that this night is worth a thousand months in terms of good deeds and prayers.

That is because our ancestors used to live for hundreds of years, but we currently only live for decades, so we have that annual night to pray in and compensate for our short lifetime.

That's according to our religion anyways.

  • May Allah swt bless all of them!

  • manshallah!!!!!
