Hi. I'm Lorie Marrero and today's Clutter Video Tip is about morning and evening routines. I have a recommended set of things to do each morning and each evening that apply to most families and then you can fill in the gaps with other things that apply to your family as well like kids' bath time and bedtime stories [POP] and other things like that. But here are the basics.
For the morning, we have the "to dew" list, d-e-w, and that stands for dishes, eating, and wash. Dishes refers to putting all the clean dishes away in the kitchen. So emptying the dishwasher, putting away the dry dishes by the sink. This gives you a clean slate for the rest of the day when you make more dirty dishes they have a place to go. Then "e" for eating. Hopefully you know already the answer to the question, "What's for dinner?" because maybe you've done your Sunday planning, which is another video that we have here [POP] on our channel. But even if you know the answer to that question, you can do something in the morning to make that easier for the evening when you get home from work. So it might be thawing something from the freezer, starting something in the crock pot, making reservations, whatever that is for you, make sure that you do something to help yourself with dinner before you leave the house. Then you have the "w" for wash, and that is simply to take your laundry to the next step, keep that laundry flowing.
All right, so the evening routine we recommend is the "triple s." That stands for start the dishwasher, straighten up, and set for tomorrow. So obviously if you're going to empty the dishwasher in the morning, you have to start it in the evening and let that run. So that's really easy. Then we have straighten up, which is a clutter control. So you can go through the house for literally about five minutes, pick up things off the floor, clear surfaces, think about how you want to feel when you wake up in the morning. What do you want to look at when you walk out of your bedroom? So straighten up wherever you can. And then "set for tomorrow" refers to anything that you can do to make your morning easier. If you want to pack lunches [POP], make sure the kids' backpacks are put together correctly for the morning, even if it's just to find your keys, whatever you need to do so that you can get out the door faster the next day.
So there you go. The "to dew" list, and the "triple s" routine. [POP] And if you want help with more customizing of your routines, weekly routines, cleaning routines, I have a very comprehensive 26-page workbook that I worked [POP] very hard on for a very long time to put together a list of everything you need to do to maintain your home. And this is literally a workbook that you write into and make your own plan and it is a free bonus when you join our Membership Program. And you can do that for free for two weeks with our Quickstart Program. So you can find out more at clutterdiet.com/quickstart.
See you next time, and may you always be happy and grateful for having more than enough.

Quick, succinct, & the "DEW" "SSS" acronyms are easy to remember. I wrote them on an index card & put them up inside my kitchen cabinet door. Thanks!

My 1 year old and 4.5 year old are working against the flow of my "clutter cleanup!" good suggestions on everything. It is the worst to wake up and have to catch up from the day before.
