Before you prod on about corporatism...
It doesn't take corporatism for three mom & pop businesses to form de facto cartels and control a small town. We must be as protected from government control as from private, unelectable control.

I'm a Ron Paul supporter, but I'm no fan of rampant privatization. Ayn Rand knew nothing of the globalization that is upon us. Privatization coupled w/ globalization is simply dictatorship by foreign, phantom, unelectable boards of directors.

Privatization + globalization allows for companies like Bechtel to troll the planet, prey on poor countries, privatize their natural resources and pollute the rest while extolling the virtues of employment for a few underpaid workers.

Globalization + privatization allows for the possibility of a UAE national company to purchase America's ports... from a British company.

Rampant, Rand privatization allows for private individuals to 'own' our natural resources. Unelectable boards of directors, particularly those w/ foreign interests, should not be allowed to control our water, energy and oil. A bunch of nouveau riche hicks shouldn't have been in such a position to tinker w/ California's energy as did those at Enron.

I'm all for doing away with the IRS and the Fed. I'm all for ditching the war on drugs. I'm all for giving power to the states. These, alone, are sufficient reasons to vote for Ron Paul.

However, I don't agree w/ anyone on everything. I'm not a follower looking for a leader. Discernment is key. We need to beware of those who blindly agree w/ everything anyone says.. and those who blindly believe anything that is published.

Okay... I'm done. ;-)

ourearthhome says:
Privatization is the continuation of colonialism's legacy of land and natural resources monopoly which is the major cause of poverty and the disparity of wealth in 3rd world countries. If you can get people to agree that you can charge them for access to their own planet they are your slaves. To the extent that privatization continues to make private the earth that belongs to all and the economic values created by all, i.e. land values, it is merely the new colonialism. It started at home.

  • What does it matter if it is foreign ownership. If they dont run their company right and make the most effective use of their assets then some other local firm will under cut them, and in turn they will make a loss and go out of business. their assets wont disappear they will be purchased by the other firm with the better management and lower costs. this means that over all resources will be allocated to where they are most effective, and society benefits from the lower cost of there services.

  • Globalization is a nightmare, for anyone who believes in individual liberty, and the sovereignty society, but privatization is not the cause.

If you take a look at the forces pushing globalism, you will quickly see they are all corporate and governmental. Which is in fact, to say the same thing twice, as corps are the creations of the state.

Private in the free market sense means - free from govt. Corps are not free from govt, as for a corp to even exist, it must get govt sanction.

  • I agree with you, but, wait. The things you're saying you're against are all the things that Ron Paul's Randist/libertarian/free-marketeer views are going to allow to take over. You're worried about oppressive, unimpeachable privatized rule, don't vote for libertarians! In an unregulated "free market" (in quotes because such a thing is literally impossible outside the conceptual realm) the privatization and globalism you're complaining about would have nothing to stop them from taking over.

  • I would never consider myself a mindless groupie. Its hard to be a groupie, when most people hate ron paul or think he's crazy

  • Ron Paul is a Constitutionalist and the Free Market is the way to go.

  • Very important, thanks !

  • thanks for sharing mate

  • It amazes me how these free market dupes continuously yank from Ayn Rand's dusty utters. This morally bankrupt hypocrite applied for social security and used medicare to pay for her cancer treatment.

  • @NotTooObvious Rand is rollling in grave with these bailouts and stimulus programs!!

  • I agree with proteanview. What we would have is state corporate dictorship. This is what happened in Eastern Europe after communism fell.

  • I don't even know why left-wingers support big-government. All big-government does is grow huge corporations. Nothing TOO big is good. We need more small businesses in this country. Corporations aren't bad, but they get too big.

  • Dictatorship is one man deciding the fate of a company or country. If you have multiple companies deciding on actions in the world its not dictatorship. You dont think we are influenced a minimal amount by each board of directors that has an american company already? Thats why America is great.
