1.07 - Stay With Me

A day has passed since Haley walked out on Nathan at the docks and she decides to try and have him explain why he acted that way. But when he acts like a jerk once again, she says forget it and walks away.

In class, Brooke talks to Peyton about her whole situation with Dean and how he kissed her the day before. She doesn't know where they stand and Peyton tells her to just ask him and Brooke says that she can't. When she flips through her book, she sees something that reminds her of Dean and thinks back to the day before, when they kissed. Brooke is left to wonder if it meant anything at all.

That night, Sam goes over to Peyton's and she's pretty happy to see him. He gets frustrated with her changing attitude and asks her what's really going on. She tells him that she was just emotional the other day and he tells her that she's confusing him.

Meanwhile, Dean goes over to Brooke's and they talk about the kiss. Not being able to look her in the eye, he tells her that it was just something he did in the heat of the moment. She tells him that she figured as much and they decide to be friends, even though they both have feelings for each other.

The next day, Nathan goes over to the café to try and talk to Haley but she blows him off. He keeps trying but she tells him that she's sick of his attitude and asks him to stay away from her.

Later, Peyton thinks back to the night that Sam was at her place and she remembers confessing her love for him and him not knowing what to say back.

The next day, Nathan goes over to Haley and Brooke's house and starts throwing rocks at her window to get her attention. He tries to apologize to her and tells her that he's not like her and he screws up a lot and he wants to be someone who deserves to be seen with her. She tells him that he should've thought about all of that last night and that he can't say or do anything that would surprise her and he cuts her off with a kiss. She kisses him back and they finally let their true feelings show.

That night, Sam goes over to Peyton's and she tells him that they could have a fairytale and that there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone ends up happily ever after. Sam then kisses her and they proceed to make out on his bed. Lucas, who has come to pick Peyton up for their date, sees all of this and is heartbroken.
