Full story below, but here are the exciting points:
18 - hectic start in the wet going down to China Beach.
40 - going into T2 Evo slides into Lotus, and silver Evo goes off to miss. I move from 6th to 3rd, then 2nd place as the 2nd place Vette spun coming out of the same turn.
30 - drag race with the white Evo after he gets a good jump on me when I was stuck behind a 750 whp Lister. (Also watch the mirror as I enter the turn, you'll see the silver Evo go sliding off track)
08 - phat Tokyo drifting with the white Evo.
33 - bad run + misfire coming out of T1 = drag race with silver Evo to T2. I get stuck on the inside (tons of sealer, worst place to be) and almost make the same mistake as the white Evo; understeer like crazy, so the silver Evo got me good on the next straight and you can see his typical flame show out the side exhaust haha.
35 - two fairly exciting passes on the front straight.
51 - carried a little too much speed into T2 and decided to go muddin.
34 - almost got swiped by a Vette, more Tokyo drift action in the process.
33 - my James Bond smokescreen starts up. Oil pressure was fine at the time being so I kept going.
41 - oil pressure gauge starts singing :( figuring I'm toast either way, I try to keep going in hopes of seeing the white flag!
30- completely miss the first black flag. Whoops!
30 - I come in and the fire fighters put of the fire.

Qualified 7th and things were looking good with rain moving in while we waited in grid. We were all going out on dries, so the playing field was even and ready for the awd cars to dominate. This proved so as many cars (including some awd cars) spun out and/or slid off track. I moved up to 2nd at one point, fell to 4th and stayed there for a bit. Then it seems oil dumped out of my catch can onto my turbo causing an intermitent fire. I was eventually black flagged, ending my race. The white Evo that had 2nd place got dq'd for hitting the Lotus, which would have put me on the podium in 3rd if I had made it through the whole race where I was. Oh well, there's always next year.

  • Yeah, that stuff is ice. Even though I knew better AND had already seen your mishap I still went inside that one time with David on the outside. I was saying to myself "please don't understeer and plow him!" Backed off and he made it by unchallenged. Super fun race though.
