An experimental film in editing. The idea was to test the limits of fast-paced editing: it is said that you need at least 4 frames to recognize an edit or new scene...this experiment edits more often that every 4 frames by the end of the experiment.

My fifth student film, this was another no-notice opportunity to spend the rest of our time (we got done early one day!) shooting some film. So I decided to experiment with fast editing.

A New York Film Academy student film. 16mm B&W (Reversal), Post-Production Audio, cut on Final Cut Pro. Filmed July 23, 2003. Shot on the back lot of Universal Studios, Hollywood, CA. 1:08

  • Hey brother, I'm a film student myself and am focusing on editing. I currently shoot on 16mm b&w reversal film. This was an interesting test, I had a lot of success editing every 6 frames a second. I edit mostly in my head to time signatures, for example a shot that lasts 24 frames then 12, then 6, then 12, then 24... I love micro editing especially mixing it with more traditional macro editing.
