@hahaheha13 Cause some people don't have great sliders, and good hitters can hit a slider if they can sit on it.

If you have a cutter and a slider, for example, you greatly reduce the ability of the hitter to sit on a pitch.

Pitchers with great sliders had great sliders because they could use their other pitches effectively.

@nscott2334 Pitching is upsetting a hitter's timing. A cutter will be faster than a slider if thrown right.

These pitchers aren't necessarily supposed to be swing and miss strikes, they're supposed to be used to throw off a batter's timing. Also, movement on fastballs helps get the ball off the sweet spot of the bat. This is why people look for "natural movement" on a pitcher when he's being scouted.

Plus, if you throw a cutter, then you throw a slider, it can look the same.

@BranManftw54 Grip a 4 seem with your middle and ring finger and make a ring with your thumb and pointer. Pinky is up to you. I use it to get more left to right break sometimes. Then throw the ball. Lead with the heel of your palm or wrist. You'll get it.
