hey Sambosteve, can you recommend any Sambo gyms in the chicago area? maybe i should experience Sambo first-hand before i criticize Pres. Gregg's technigue...

we have a large Russian population here, but i've yet to find a Sambo gym. any help you could give would be appreciated.

Well, Gregg is at MFS in Bettendorf. You canalways look him up. There are no formal clubs in Chicago, but there is a guy who teaches there. PM me for his info.

Well, yes, many throws can be stopped that way, but they still get used and work. Every throw has a counter/defense. You can say the same for a basic hip throw...hand placement and hip control, but people still get tossed all the time with hip throw.

Trying to make sure they work mostly on the upper always able to throw teq's and then have no issues and stay in the 80% true means. :)

Never would say that my friend Gregg is doing that, but if I was there he would look over at me just like in most cases and ask me what do you think and I would tell him. I look at the full teq and info then make sure I can help and to help is to defende and if 80% of throws can be avoid best to know the defence

Hmm over 34 years of wrestling this is though Greco Roman Wrestling and Freestlyle, 24 years of Ju-Jitsu and only ya few years doing sambo but I love them all. I am a Blackbelt in Judo so im frinds with Steve and try to put my 2 cents in.When anyone goes into another Masters realm of understanding, You will have others making sure he or she is honest in his thinking. I goto the World and train with The Olimpic Judo and Greco team but you can stop throws if you know how. Simple as that
