Artists from three continents belt out a rock anthem for peace in Afghanistan, with proceeds supporting Afghan womens education. The band is Electric Caravan, featuring vocalist Neil Donell.

The Afghan people have been captives to violence for more than three decades. Today they find themselves voiceless, virtual prisoners in their own homeland, subjected to the tyranny of big power politics and the terror of war.

Yet their appeal to the outside world is simple and clear. The Afghans want freedom from war, freedom to take their desperate quest for peace into their own hands.

A caravan of 18 musicians and singers from three continents have joined forces to record a song that gives voice to the Afghans quest. Vocalist Neil Donell sums up the sentiments of all the artists who donated their talents to Countryman: This is an opportunity to make a contribution, a chance to raise my voice for peace.

Now everyone can join Neil, the Countryman Choir and the great players of Electric Caravan to make a personal contribution towards peace in Afghanistan.

Help Countryman rock the warlords, and roll hope into the hearts of the people of Afghanistan.

There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they grow up in peace. -- Kofi Annan

  • Thought provoking. Reminds us that the people who perpetuate wars are never the ones who suffer.

  • My nephew is going to Afghanistan with the Canadian Army to help their people. We are proud of him and his commitment to help them.
