This film has an "X-factor" that makes it truly amazing. I can't say exactly what it is, but something about it makes me want to re-watch it countless times.

sadly the prequel gives away some of the horror because you already know the alien..in this version the introduction of the alien was alot better.

i think watching this version and afterwards watching the 2011 version (to clear a few remaining questions up) would be the best way to go.

but i enjoyed it anyways.

and im amazed at the special effects, they are the best i ever saw going by the fact that this movie is now 31years old..a long shot ahead of its time

guys dont hate on the thing from 2011, its a good prequel.

i never watched any version before so i watched it today in the chronological order:

after watching the thing (2011) i thought "well this was a very entertaining movie, just the cliffhanger at the end was meh"

after starting to watch this version of the thing i was amazed that it picks up right were the 2011 ended with a cliffhanger, afterwards i thought "well the 2011 version was nice to watch but this one was amazing
