SSTC Full Power Testing (Fullwave DC)

Finally i found the courage to rase it up to full 120V and kick it to fullwave rectification. This means more average rf power and hotter arcs and streamers. The breakout point measured from it's tip to the top base of the topload is aroun 4-5" (for scale). i can get around a 10-12" max streamer length to ground. the ground arcs a very hot as you can see in the video.

120V 10A input (run on a 4 amp variac hehe)
330kHz fres

While testing this i connected my oscope to a mosfet gate (ground clip to fet source) and turned it on. direct connection like this = no-no
the ground clip on the probe is connected to mains ground and i pretty much shorted out the 120v through a mosfet. in the end two fets died and i blew the 6 amp fuse. quick fix (well, 2 hours of testing and measuring) and it was all fixed up and i made this video.

you can hear my mum saying "andrew, dinner" in the background when i first turn it on. i had chicken and grean beans and rice and it was delicious.

haha ya i've experience the whole oscope-gate short. it totally messed up all of my stuff. now i just have a spare winding on the gate drive transformer just for monitoring the voltage to the mosfets...
