This was taken on July 28, 2008, after completing 7 weeks of physical therapy. Surgery was performed on November 28, 2007 by a orthopeadic shoulder specialist located in Lawrence, Ks. He discovered damaged to the nerve in the area where my crutch had pressed against my rib-cage. He removed the scar tissue and since then, I have noticed a substantial increase to the stability of my scapula.

  • How long did you have the injury before surgery? I was injured in car accident (Dec 2005). The winging showed up a year later. Doctors are saying I'm past the time when surgery for long thoracic nerve lesioning would help.

  • You might get a second or third opinion, it couldn't hurt.

  • Your injury aside, your in terrific shape.... dont see many women with back muscle definition like that very often.... You either train hard or are one of those genetic lottery winners....

  • Amazing! you can still see a few extra muscles on that side. But those results are great!

  • @pxmabby How long is too long to wait for surgery, did they say? Because I have the same problem and it's been a couple of years for me...

  • i have bad winging and i think due to damage to the nerve. is the surgery painful? how long until it heals and the winging goes away?

  • Did you notice any pain while performing any exercises with a winged scapula?

  • No one necessarily needs surgery. The results look great. thought. Lengthen the spine, free the neck. Each of you got yourself in this position, get yourself out. Lengthen the spine. Then once you feel that you've properly aligned and freed the neck, Use your sternocleidomastoids to pull up the clavicles and chest. Hold your shoulders in a lifted and squared position within 2 inches of chin level. Then maintain a new, aligned posture that you always wanted. You have the control.

  • How much does this surgery cost?

  • And how is this doing now - is it completely resolved?

  • Exactly same thing happened to me in car accident in 2000. Winging showed up about 6 months later. Doctors never said there was anything to do to fix it besides exercise. Any tips or advice, exercises you have done that have helped would be greatly appreciated.

  • Wow... compared to your early videos of the damaged scapula muscles, this looks much better.

Great to know the surgery and therapy went well.
