Kind of like anti-lock brakes kick in? There to augment your braking. This is to augment other aspects of driving.

Way to go, MIT! I would love to have this system on the cars my kids drive. As a parent, it would be nice to go to bed at night knowing that even if one of them makes a stupid mistake, doesn't see an oncoming car, etc., the control system will be there to correct things.
To commenters like AdrianPilbrow, what on earth makes you think the co-pilot would do something as dumb as what you've described? Makes me wonder whether you even watched/understood the video.

No thanks. So I approach a corner too fast, try to turn "too sharply for my speed", computer says no, turns off the steering and I go straight ahead through the corner?
