If health care was completely privatized, trust me, people would not be waiting. If you had to pay out of pocket every $ that the doctor was going to charge you, you would go less - right? So would everybody else.

That would lead to less waits, less demand and lower costs. The government certainly did a good job with our retirement plan (social security), well let's hand them health care too!

The truth is, the government is selling us on these ideas to get money for wars.

young people who are healthy should look into this type of insurance because the premiums are lower, and you are protected in case of a major illness...and if congress allowed insurance companies to compete in out of state markets, the costs would really go down alot....

there is a good book that explains this...by paul zane pilzer....making consumes more accountable for their health is a good thing. and would drive down the cost for everyone....the 80% who are healthy would pay less, and the 20% who arent would pay more, until competition lowered the costs even more...remember how much it used to cost for long distance calling and how competition brought the cost was down, the same could happen for healthcare...

what are you talking about? every system is going to have people waiting.

better to just tax people upfront, than to run the patient into bankruptcy only to have the govt tax more in order to shore up the amount the hospital was shortchanged by anyway.

don't forget the waiting lists too that comes with universal health care. access to waiting lists is not an access to health care.

countries that doesn't have such waiting lists there are huge taxes. i heard that in Denmark the waiting lists isn't long but the danish government taxes citizens heavily.

I wouldn't mind having universal healthcare. but a main argument I've heard opposing this is that in countries with universal healthcare people have to pay more taxes.
