I bought this green severum from Pet smart a couple of months ago. They called him a torquoise Severum but I think he's just a plain old green severum. He's a lot more pretty than he looks in the video. He was the runt in my tank but has now grown to dominate all. Actually, he's a harmless fish so far. A little bossy but doesn't do any damage to it's tank mates. It mostly harasses the Fire mouth. My severum's name is Roman named after a character in the show Big Love.

Yes I love severums. They are truly gentle cichlids. Though I bet they defend their babies with vengence. I'd love to see a vid of yours. I keep reading that they are not such colorful fish but I have to disagree. Their colors are subtle but gorgeous. At least the green ones are subtle. I'd love to get one of those golden severums with red spots.

  • I also bought mine from Petsmart about 8 mons ago, also called Turquoise Severum and it was a baby then. I just love it. He's grown now and I called Petsmart, they don't carry them anymore. Mine have hues of blue/purple. I am now very interested in buying another. You have a nice tank and your severum is green, but also pretty.

  • @Ricine yeah they will even chase my hifin pleco and my sailfin pleco if they are near the egg's. my one breeding pair is a turquoise and green severum so im excited to see if they cross breed and i may get a hybrid severum .
