In a continuing effort to discuss and educate the citizens of Hawaii on the possible effects of the proposed Akaka Bill or the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act of 2009 (S. 708 and H.R. 1711) the Grassroot Institiute presents a series of 60 second videos featuring GRIH Senior Fellow Jere Krischel, who is also part native hawaiian, discussing the issues from various points of view.

what makes us Hawaiian isn't blood quantum; what makes us Hawaiian is our language and culture...

There are too many mixed people with very low blood quantum; just be proud of having a bit of Hawaiian blood.

The Akaka Bill is reasonable as to the evaluation of Hawaiian lineage. It defines native hawaiian based on the 1920 Homestead Act; BUT it also makes allowances for direct linear descendents of those who would have qualified, e.g., their grandchild or child; two generation evaluation by the commission to determine eligibility. Did one of your parents qualify? NO, did one of your grandparents? NO or YES? If YES your are in, if no, let those who are benefit according to direct lineage.
