  • Mike, quick question, I followed your video to a T, got the cams to line up, the I and E are where they suppose to be, but when I put the crank pulley on and try to line it up with the T on the lower belt cover, The mark on the pulley where its suppose to line up with the T on the cover is off, just a little, its between the T and the 10 right where the screw driver and the cams are at TDC. Is this ok or is something off? Its a brand new crank pulley also.

  • I did my 1.6 and was purely terrified the first time. Then I forgot to tighten a bolt and had to go back in and redo it on the side of the road one day. It's amazing how fast you can get at this when you have to. It took a little while to learn how to get everything together and then finesse the belt over the pulley without chucking the timing all the way off by a mark, but you'll figure it out. I did. And do the water pump at the same time. It's eaiser.

  • what happens if u plug the wires in a different order,?? miata 1.8 cc, and putting back the wires from a spark plug exchange i might´ve confused and dit it wrong, then had to drive all the way to the closest garage, on the way there i could here loud noises like the metal hitting against metal, i didn´t speed up and drove way to slown although was so scared i was gonna break my car but had no more option to do on that moment

  • Hey Mike,

I just wanted to say thanks for this addendum. Using it solved my timing belt problem! I found out I was 1 tooth off on the exhaust cam.

Take care and please continue to make videos! I promise I'll buy parts from your web store on anything you teach!

  • at 8:27 the exhaust timing looks 1 tooth off. is that correct. can't see the timing mark on the exhaust side.

  • Awesome! I am just about to change the belt on my 2000NB. The King rocks (Not as much as the 'other' King though) ;)

  • Good job on explaining this Mike. I don't even own a Miata and see this is useful.

  • These are great videos. Do you think replacing the cam and crank seals imperative? Same question for the tensioner and idler? I wish you could have shown how to remove the seals..maybe next time.

  • Great video, big help, thank you for making this video
