Recently the Philadelphia Dialogue Forum organized an 'Interfaith Celebration of Neighborhood & Ashura Day' aboard a cruise on the Delaware riverfront. It's part of their ongoing efforts to promote dialogue among different faiths and cultures.
250 invited guests were aboard on the Delaware River for 3 hours. The event started with the information on Ashura or Noah's pudding presented by Serdar Ozkan who is a member of Philadelphia Dialogue Forum. The guests showed great interest in the part of "Noah's Flood".
The Secretary General of the Philadelphia Dialog Forum Mustafa Bülent said the aim of the forum is to enable Muslims and t people from other faiths to constitute a dialog and get to know each other better.
Dr. Jon Pahl of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia said the humanity needs the dialog now more than ever. He also quoted from the Holly Quran, Sura Hujurat, verse: " Muslims are brothers, therefore make peace between the two brothers and fear Allah that the mercy may be shown to you." He also said "half of the world population is made up of Muslims and Christians ."He went on to say without the peace between the two religions, it is not likely to dream world peace.
