@brooklynmonk1 it's in your inbox. I was wrong, they're shorin, but they fight like kyokushin. full contact, no pads, no point sparring. I wouldn't say it's kickboxing esque though so it's just f'in crazy. These guys train in kata etc, but in combat they look just like barbarians to me.

@elenchus There is no Kyokushin school in Vietnam yet. In fact, I have been talking to the Southeast Asian head of Kyokushin about starting a club here. where did you see this? Tell me, and I will go visit them.

@brooklynmonk1 I wish I had known it when I lived there. Maybe I'll come back this summer, but I really need to practice karate in america all summer (+ make money lawyering...). You should check out their crazy kyokushin school. It just seems like total brawling + kata to me...I don't know if you've been there, they've got three schools out in a huge parking lot as I recall (tkd, thieu lam + karate)...could be fun for you.

Kmher language is sometimes similar to Thai language.

@3200Parker Thai and Khmer share about 30% of their lexicon. However, it is important to note that Khmer and Thai come from completely different origins and are unrelated languages. The shared lexicon derives from interactions between the two cultures and borrowing words from the same Pali Sanskrit base.
