the freedom he exhibits in his playing is what, for me, is so formidable. there's a certainty and intensity that just knocks you out. such energy combined with the soul of a poet. he was unique.

Menuhin really could play. As a teenager and a young man he was stunning. Most people who don't rate him are judging him by some of the very poor recordings in his later career when his technique and confidence seem to have deserted him. This is superb especially for a 15 year old.
