After many months out of action, 6024 'King Edward I' made a triumphant return to the mainline. After running up light engine from the West Somerset on the 9th, a test run was made today (10th) prior to the King taking over from 60163 'Tornado' on the Torbay Express. In this video we see the King come off shed at Bristol Temple Meads, before heading up to Filton Abbeywood to see it heading for Wales.

The loco carried a wreath and headboard, 'Bernard Staite Salopian', in memory of Bernard Staite, who was one of the people responsible for returning steam to the mainline. This run was also a memory to him.
