Representative Lang was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1988. His district includes Skokie, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove and portions of Chicago.

Lang became the House Democratic Floor Leader in 1993 and Assistant Majority Leader in 1997.
During his service in the House, Representative Lang has fought for seniors, women, working families and education. He led the effort to fight senior abuse and to increase funding for "Meals-On-Wheels". Representative Lang is considered the expert in the Illinois General Assembly on the important issue of mental health, and he has passed significant legislation in this area. Lang has received numerous awards and is very active in community service.
