This is a narrated video walkthrough of the NES game Ultima Exodus. It is split into 20 segments and spans roughly 2 3/4 hours. I first recorded the video then added the narration on top of it and even after the narration, I've made a few more discoveries of tips and tricks, explained as needed in this description.

The second part involves how to fight enemies and obtain money from the treasure chests they leave behind. At the end of this segment, we've reached the first goal.

  • I got far in this game as a kid, got to the last castle and gave up

  • Part 20 of this series explains how to do the final castle. For other preparations, use this walkthrough. Use the "20,000 gold an hour" video for fast gold.

  • what do you mean "Use repel when the 'stick' is the lowest?"

  • Execute the action when the goblins' stick, in their animation, is closest to the ground (more toward the bottom of the screen). This will guarantee that the spell works.

  • reminds me of Ultima IV a bit.

  • @ulillillia Yeah, I gotta say I don't really either, almost all of them now are shooters, etc. Games like this don't exist anymore. This was one of my favorite games though.

  • I've never seen this "Nintendo Power" magazine or any video game magazines for that matter. They generally don't interest me now because 99% of all games nowadays are of little or no interest to me.

  • @Daemoncox I suppose you could learn just from observation (if you think to look for it) but me personally, it was in an issue of nintendo power

  • Did you ever notice in this game you CAN'T retreat from a battle!? So, you either win or you die. I remember showing someone the game he's like "retreat" and I was thinking you can't.

  • 3:07 "Treasures dropped from enemies will always give gold"

...except in the earlier versions of the game! You could get maces, axes, leather armor, or chain armor in certain chests! Also, bomb traps would also destroy the contents, rather than MERELY damaging everyone... ;)

  • I always went by the Wizards feet animation. Big side on the right equals spell casting time. Big side on the left equals FAILED repel/undead. I absolutely love this game. I must have spent a few solid years of my life playing it.

  • i play this game on my sega dreamcast through the NesterDc cdr. does anyone know how to save your game through the nesterdc?

  • Wow this game reminds me of early dragon quest games.

  • @ulillillia thanks, your vids made me get back into it. Grinding to 88K yay!!
