Movement number 4 ("Fantasia on the Dargason") from Gustav Holst's Second Suite in F for Military Band

Sheet music here: http://imslp.org/wiki/Second_Suite_for_Military_Band,_Op.28_No.2_(Holst,_Gustav)

Instruments from left to right:
Top row:
Trombone 1, Trombone 2, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Drums
Second row:
Bassoon, Cornet 2, Cornet 1, Tenor Sax, Alto Sax
Third row:
Clarinet 1, Clarinet 2, Clarinet 3, Bass Clarinet, Contra Bass Clarinet
Bottom row:
Horn 1, Horn 2, Oboe, Flute

Self-criticism: I believe the saxophones are out of tune, but not consistently so that I could just edit it :) Notes around middle A tend to be sharp, and other notes tend to be flat. *sigh*

  • How do you make a normal clarinet sound like a contrabass clarinet ? x)

  • @pSAurOnq With Audacity, you can change the pitch of an audio track. I shifted it down by two octaves :)

  • Why does this remind me of Hollywood Squares? You are so good, Carmen!

  • @DearOldNutjob Wow, I remember watching Hollywood Squares back in the 80s! Thanks for the flashback :)

  • I know this song! I saw a windband play this last month :) I like the way it kinda sounds like greensleaves!

  • @Darkmooncaverns19 I also thought it sounded like greensleaves :)

  • @carmen75013 Wow, and it really does sound like a contrabass clarinet ! Awesome btw :)

  • Nice idea but next time stick to practice just one instrument to good levels and then think about getting another one.

  • This is just about the neatest thing I've ever seen

  • favourite movement. so fun to play on clarinet.
