New Super Mario Bros. Wii 100%: 9-7 (Full Fail Feature)

EDIT 3/1/10: I included every single one of my deaths to illustrate how difficult this level is, and what NOT to do. This was my blind playthrough of this level done on 11/16/09, after previous World 9 levels I wasn't exactly expecting something to stymie me.

Please don't say I suck, because chances are you made the exact same mistakes I did originally. Thank you to everyone who understands...

This is a World 5 mastery level...sort of. Here's some tips you may be able to see from this video, where I don't learn much from my mistakes until the second half:

1. I show the best way to get by the odd Goomba-urchin section quickly. Getting through the section before that is hell - time to use your well-earned stars and reload your save if you screw up.

2. WHEN YOU GET TO WHERE THE SECOND STAR COIN IS, ALWAYS THROW YOUR FIREBALLS TO THE LEFT. You have a 99% chance of screwing yourself otherwise.

3. Act efficiently once you get to the ice bridge or you're screwed.

4. Fire Bros are evil.

5. Propeller Suit is only useful if you're looking to get just the last star coin, not the 2nd. It's also easy to lose before you get there.

If you're going for the gold (all three star coins at once), this could take the better part of an hour. Don't get too frustrated and enjoy the munchers in this level - ye old black chompers. :P

do you not see that every time you get the star coin you die. just do the level and then go get the star coin if you want.

As I type, in the video list to the right, I see a video titled "NSMB Wii 9-7 Star Coins extremely easy way" by TheEug3nius. I daresay he is a genius. Makes me feel stupid doing it the hard way, I must say. A penguin suit (ice flower may be the same, but you duck instead of slide on the belly) and two minutes and the level was cleared with barely any effort. XD

@WayoshiM Actually, if you stay far enough to the left of that ice bridge, the piranha plants can burn through the ice for you, without screwing you over.

@ErikIng333 I thought about that and I did kamikaze a lot of the star coins in this game (one was obtained by me throwing Toad at it, thus killing him), but I decided it would be a bigger achievement if I got them without using another player as a victim.

When I originally saw this video, I laughed so hard at it, but now I realize that this stupid level is no laughing matter. This level is truly the hardest level in all of NSMBW.

This is the hardest level of the game. When I finished it I had 77 out of 99 lives left. Its such a relief once you get that last star coin!
