Reagan wasn't a great conservative. If anything he was a moderate at best. He also had some failures in foreign policy such as the Iran contra scandle, and sending Marines into Beirut Lebanon during a civil war (164 Marines lost at the Marine Barracks). He was, like Obama, a great communicator (speaker) that appealed to people. Cantor on the other hand is a creeping snob who lies about everything. Cantor is a poor excuse for a republican.

Reagan not only raised taxes 12 times over 8 years, to include the largest corporate tax hike in history, but was also a deficit spender. The national debt increased during Reagan's leadership from just under 900 Billion to just over 2100 Billion. In fact, he more than DOUBLED the national debt. His CIA backed plan to outspend the Soviets on the military is viewed as a success, though the data was significantly bloated by the CIA (which later admitted this to Congress) to justify this policy.
