The PR industry is extremely broad and covers just about every industry under the sun! Any company or personality that reaches a certain size or status then needs an element of PR, be it in house or in the from an agency so its a career that could have you working for a zoo one week, a toilet paper factory the next and a footballer the week after that.
This diverse nature of the PR industry means anyone looking for a career in PR needs to be confident, able to talk to clients, proactive, handle tight deadlines, work hard, but the most important skill is communication. PR is all about communication.
The large PR companies offer great graduate recruitment schemes but they are very competitive, so it is worth considering one of the 200+ smaller PR companies as they will offer the same experiences and exposure.
