Chico and Tom, playing the beautiful song Anos Dourados

Parece que dizes
Te amo, Maria
Na fotografia
Estamos felizes
Te ligo afobada
E deixo confissões
No gravador
Vai ser engraçado
Se tens um novo amor
Me vejo a teu lado
Te amo?
Não lembro
Parece dezembro
De um ano dourado
Parece bolero
Te quero, te quero
Dizer que não quero
Teus beijos nunca mais
Teus beijos nunca mais

Não sei se eu ainda
Te esqueço de fato
No nosso retrato
Pareço tão linda
Te ligo ofegante
E digo confusões no gravador
E desconcertante
Rever o grande amor
Meus olhos molhados
Insanos, dezembros

  • now i see!! thank you both very much, it now makes sense..and i love it even more now because of this contradiction which makes this song so special, its like an acrobat walking on a tight robe, like miles davis or claudio roditi playing the trumpet.

  • @aekistas (continuing...)

But on the second part, it's a little clearer that she still loves him. I think the verses "nossos versos são banais, mas como eu espero teus beijos nunca mais" are meant to be "oh, these foolish verses of mine, I'm such a fool, I still love you, but there won't be/there can't be) any kisses again (even though I still long for them)".

    Hope it helps. =)

  • @aekistas u're right, it's a little confusing. But it's on purpose, I think. On the first part of the song, the woman (the lyrics are written under a female point of view, as if a woman was singing) doesn't seem to know if she still really loves her ex or not. Since she saw an old pic of them, she remembered the old love of hers and the feelings back then. I think on the first part she is reluctant, in the sense that the feelings are still there (and alive), but she's on a kind of denial.

  • @aekistas In fact, the song says he's in love, and longs for a love that no longer exists.

He sees a photograph taken with the beloved woman in December, so he remembers how happy they were to and resolves to call her. Understand?

  • As I am not Brasilian, can anyone please explain to me 2 things that seem to contradict? The first is when Chico says parece bolero, te quero, dicer que nao quero teus beijos nunca mais. The second is bolero, nossos versos sao banais, mas como eu espero teus beijos nunca mais. Why does she not want any more kisses in both cases when in reality she is still in love?
