DETROIT -- Sergei Fedorov's fifth goal of the game at 2:39 of overtime lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-4 victory over the Washington Capitals.
"I'm still shaking, I'm so excited," Fedorov said Thursday. "This is wonderful."
The Russian center added: "The puck was going in for me. I think all my shots went in."
Fedorov, whose previous career best was a four-goal game in a tie against the Los Angeles Kings in February 1995, was between the circles when he took a pass from defenseman Vladimir Konstantinov and beat Washington goaltender Jim Carey to the glove side.
"It was very exciting with that overtime goal because when you score you win, and you're done with the game," said Fedorov, who entered the game with just 12 goals and 25 points in 35 games.
