This is an in depth demo of the peavey mark iv bass head. Mine hails from 1982, constructed in the USA. built like a tank, it'll last forever. The ONLY THING that doesn't work anymore are the springs for the graphic eq switches, which means you have to kinda finagle the switch when you pop it out. But not a huge issue at all, easily reparable if I actually cared. Tone is incredible, paramid function is incredible, and it is a loud 210 watts. You can get these for under 200 dollars consistently on eBay and craigslist. Better than much of the cheap modern stuff of today.

  • I used this head in several hundred gigs. Lots of distortion your getting there?

  • @1951abcd That's all coming from the camera. The head itself doesn't overdrive unless you're cranking the pregain more than you should.

  • how loud is this head? i just recently played a show through a peavey musician mark iii model (not mine) and on what seemed to be low settings it still was overpowering the space i was in and i was in shock! im looking for something similar; so i guess my question is wether or not this amp puts out power comparable to the house-shaking bass i had last night?

  • @korea1john Most definitely. this head pounds. Especially because you can run it through 2 ohms. The Mark VIII is louder by a couple hundred watts, but the mark iv will definitely hold its own.

  • Dude just found out cliff burton used these amps before being in metallica

  • @exodia333 heck yes! and understandably so, because the mid control on the second channel enabled him to isolate the bass-mid tone that was the foundation of his tone.

  • I had one of these back in the mid 80's with the 2X10X18 speaker cab. It was fairly loud but because we played a lot of Rush, my drummer usually drowned me out with his freaking huge drum kit.

  • ok thanks ;)

  • @MrJakublp Not to my knowledge, you just have to mute one channel my turning the volume all the way down. they make a replica pedal for these heads but it's 100 bucks I think.
