This OpenGL + OpenCL waterfall demo video from SC11 is running on a Supermicro Tyan blade server with a FirePro V8800 graphics card. It shows OpenGL 3D rendering and OpenCL compute simultaneous driving a 3D simulation of particles flow and a 2D simulation of the water surface.

  • this simulation has its limitations, although i can't say its better than physics or vice versa, it's still a long way to simulate actual particle collisions in liquids because of the fact that it crunches huge numbers. it seems like Ray Tracing will be implemented first in games before we can see "near-reality" fluid simulation. i hope they release a ray tracing mod for the Crysis series xD
