Though Silent Hill Downpour takes a step towards the action genre with a mean focus on combat mechanics, in its core it still has the eerie feel of a survival horror game. The ability to choose your fate has taken on a life of its own in this 8th installment of the "Silent Hill" franchise developed by Vatra Games . See if you dig the new changes and let us know how you feel in the comments below!

  • @hkrogers you know you can take off the shining items thing in the options right? Also just cause they didn't explore as much as lets say 'I would' doesn't mean that there's nothing in the game to see, what I'm excited about is what we didn't see. He simply went to one side quest, and not look around the WHOLE apartment, hinting the locked doors took off the exploration part so there must be tons of things just in that apartment. However, I'm extremely excited for it, you may not be. I love all

  • @JukemDrawles89 Western horror doesn't mainly consist of loud, cheap, repetitive jump scares and gore, I guess you didn't saw a lot of psychological western horror, and I'm the one who doesn't know anything -_-

  • @Simpleman925 and to help your argument i recommend the ring still can't sleep after seeing that

  • Looks great!!! Very excited to return to Silent Hill:D

  • @AceAttorny I am so pumped for his review. I have yet to see his review on Final Fantasy XIII-2 though, I love his FF and Silent Hill reviews!

  • @LaraCroftTwins It's made by Vatra. A development team from Czech Republic.

  • If you ask me, this is exactly what the Silent Hill franchise needs to go for.

as much as many of us would love to see a SH2 feeling game again, it wouldn't do the series that much justice in the newer age of video games and would feel more like a grab of nostalgia rather than a new game. Now what they have done with the environments looks incredible, the combat is back to previous games where it is harder to fight than to run, and they made use of the environments in ways that old games can't

  • "heavy on the combat"? Bad preview!! The developers have said it will be 70% puzzles and 30% combat. They also said it will be mire difficult to fight of groups if enemies so you're better of running and getting out of the rain. Let's not forget you can actually adjust the puzzle and combat difficulty.

  • There are decisions to choose from now. Man am i going to have fun in this game.

  • @JukemDrawles89 There is one part in the Silent Hill series that is mainly based from Japanese horror and that is the store room in Brookhaven Hospital in the otherworld in SH3. And SH4 mainly but that originally wasn't a Silent Hill game until Konami slapped Silent Hill's title on it...

  • @JukemDrawles89 I watched them... They themselves said that it was influenced BY American Horror... Japanese horror is manly ghosts and spirits like The Grudge or The Ring, black haired ghosts and how bad history reflects on mankind... Silent Hill was INSPIRED by Jacob's Ladder, which IS an American Horror movie... If they made it Japanese style then WHY would they base it in New England?? Silent Hill is a tribute to American Horror. Enough Said

  • @Simpleman925 also Lake View Hotel in SH2 was influence from the Standley Hotel in The Shining!
