I am very glad that Holly Woodlawn is still with us. She is truly the last of the Warhol Superstars.
Very sad about Jackie Curtis. I highly suggest reading "Superstar in a Housedress." Very, very, good (also, don't forget Holly's book "A Lowlife in High Heels"!).

While watching this, it made me think of how fantastic Holly was in 'Trash' and how that petition went around to have her nominated for an Academy Award. Now, imagine if it had worked and if she had won. Now with the way they have presented the Oscars in the past few years, wouldn't it be great if Holly came out on stage with other talented ladies and spoke kind words to the best actress nominees? Only in a perfect world.

Also, be sure and read her bio, "Lowlife in High Heels" AWESOME!!!!!
Craig, "Superstar in a Housedress" is great, in both the book and DVD forms -- but if you'll forgive me for saying so, I prefer the DVD. I've long thought that because of the way the DVD was sold -- tucked into the back of the book -- too many people don't know that the disc IS available, and that it can almost always be found on Amazon. The trick is to NOT do a DVD search, which won't turn it up, but to search for a new copy of the book and the DVD will come with it! It's SO worth having!

Thanks so much! The DVD will be released separately (for sale) probably this coming year (2010) - it is available for rent NOW exclusively from NETFLIX.

There isn't one second of this that isn't completely sincere. Heartbreaking, wrenching, brutally authentic. Whenever I watch the great survivors like HW I ache, ache ache that I missed the enchanted time that produced them. There will never be another moment like that and people like Holly should be enshrined and revered. They are the last living sparks of something divine but lost forever.

YES! I totally agree - it was such an incredible rare time, and that is the reason I spent about five years making "Superstar in a Housedress" to capture the stories from those who lived them while there was still time!!!
