United Front Against Riverblindness (UFAR) inducted four new members to its board of directors on Saturday, June 6, 2009. The induction ceremony included closing remarks by Dr. Daniel Shungu, executive director, signing of the covenant agreement between each board member and the organization, and remarks by new board members. Acting Chairperson DAnne Hotchkiss gave the charge.Incoming board members include: Jean Jacobsohn and Charles Phillips, both of West Windsor, NJ; Valerie Yoast, Oreland, PA; and Jeffrey Yuan, Plainsboro, NJ.
United Front Against Riverblindness (UFAR) is an African-inspired, nonprofit American health organization. Through the community-directed treatment with ivermectin (CDTI) program, UFAR delivers medical treatment to fight river blindness to the approximately 982,000 living in the remote Kasongo region in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
