This is my second day of me ever touching a crossfader and a record at the same time :p Tell me what I need to work on, whats good/whats bad and all of the above. Thanks!
Btw I know the sound quality is terrible...I'm still trying to figure out how to avoid a microphone.

  • Frosted plates and butter rugs are great slip matts. As for the comparison betweeen the Vestax and Stanton mixers The Vestax PMC 05 PROIII has a very good cross fader. This was the industry standard scratch mixer for a long while. You can also get into the PMC 06 and 08 but they are a little more in cost. The SA5 is good as well, has a P & G cross fader and a 3 band EQ (vestax 05 has a 2 band). The cut in time on the SA5 is decent. You won't go wrong with either choice.

    late

    one

  • Also note that there is a quick mod for the SA-5 that makes the cut way better at the expense that my cross fader cannot fade. Doesn't really matter though because most people use upfaders anyway to fade.

  • so would you reccomend fosted plates?

I'm thinkin about picking up pack but I can't decide between those and the butter rugs

  • It's just a butter rug with extra plastic sheets for more slip. If you don't need the sheets then don't use them. Unless 5 bucks makes or breaks you i don't see why you don't go with the frosted plates lol If they get worn out and you find the sheets useless then just switch to butter rugs

  • You should look into picking up some skipless battle records. Specifically the standard "Superseal" records by q-bert. At 1:20, the record skips onto another sample on the record, with the q-bert records the allignment of each sample is perfectly timed so that even if the record skips, it's at the same spot of the sound you were using. Keep it up. Keep practicing. everybody starts somewhere.

  • I was thinking of getting superseal but didn't know exactly how it worked. I'll definetly pick it up, thanks!

  • keep it simple bro then speed it up

  • @DjZulfiOrientXpress lol!... vestax sound better by miles.....and you mean departments....lol!

  • that some high end shit for just starting out.. I had a shitty $30 mixer when i started lol

  • keep practice

  • try to use the cross fader as an advantage, to apply more to your scratching.

  • the sa-5 is a 07 PRO contender the 05 pro

    can't compete with the sa-5

the sa-5 is better in all compartment than a vestax pmc 05 pro

  • gangstarr full clip

  • What instrumental is that? =)
