I have had intel and AMD over the years but I always seem to have fewer problems with intel

You might be better looking at a second hand machine with that sort of budget as you will get a lot more for your money.

This was built in December 2009. You do not need to set slave or master jumpers with SATA hard drives like you had to with IDE hard drives. Not sure about the power leads, perhaps they have changed!

When you say full system re-boot what do you mean? If you mean re-install the operating system, then you would have to re-install the drivers.
