Ingredients
1 whole chicken
1 tsp of sugar
1 tsp of salt
1 1/2 tsp of paprika
1 tsp of ground black pepper
1/2 tsp of onion powder
1/2 tsp of garlic powder
1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper
beer can stand/beer can

Instructions
1. Heat the grill to medium high heat.
2. In a small bowl, combine sugar, salt, paprika, ground black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
3. Rub the outside and inside cavity with the rub.
4. Tuck the wing tips under.
5. Fill a beer can stand with 1/2 a can of beer, or use a 1/2 filled beer can.
6. Holding the chicken upright, slide it over the stand/can so it fits inside the cavity.
7. Cook with the grill closed for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

  • i think the bird just came.

  • Put some garlic cloves and just a couPle of drips of liquid smoke in that beer can. And don't use schaefer geez.

  • Tried this recipe on my Weber using indirect heat...wife said best beer can chicken I've ever made. 

  • @profile724 washing a chicken with vinegar does not kill bacteria. bacteria does not simply lie on the outside of the meat. it is contaminated all the way through it, which is why chicken must be cooked thoroughly.

  • Nice....BUT...place olive oil all over the chicken first so that your rub will stay on and use SMOKED PAPRIKA instead of regular paprika.

  • why don't you people use vinger to wash the chicken .My mom does it gets all the bacteria.
