Section 4 of 22 set to music. All eight verses of this section of Psalm 119 begin with Daleth, the 4th letter of the Hebrew alphabet. - (High Resolution version available at zcpress.org/psalm 119) -

I wrote the music to this section of Psalm 119 at a time of intense trial and desolation. Along with Gimel (I Am a Stranger on Earth) it remains one of my favorites to this day.

I am intrigued by the line, --Be gracious to me through Your Law.-- Normally, we Christians do not view the Law as a provision of God's grace. But if we expand our concept of the Law to encompass the character and essence of who God is, then the pieces begin to come together. We cannot keep the Law, without the indwelling of Him who wrote it and whom it describes. He will lay us low in the dust so that we may come to the place where He may become our All in all.

  • Psalm 11:29b-30a "Grant me Your Law by Your Grace, I have chosen the Way of Faith."

For all those you teach that Law, and Grace are opposed... and that the Law is not of Faith (misunderstanding Paul)
