Right before I wanted to upload this video, my computer crashed (among other things), so it's late but this vid is taken at the beginning of november 2006.

  • Do you know where I'd be able to buy a platyhelminth, preferably one in the turbellaria class?

I've developed a slight obsession of sorts regarding them and find my self reading about them daily, yet I've never seen one in real life.

  • I don't know where to buy them.

I found this one by coinsidence, but in that water there are lots of them. I'd say find a ditch where they might be and put water with some mud and plants from the same water and put it in a glass bowl, and see what life there is, it is very fascinating to look at how many life there is. I found out there was a flatworm about a month after i put the water in the bowl. They are hidden most of the time.

  • so they say yes, but i am not going to try that by cutting a live being..

I am happy the way it is (was, he didn't show himself anymore), it's such a beautiful animal

  • i have no aquarium, it's a bowl with ditchwater, and i refill it now and then with rainwater. It stands in the kitchenwindow, so the temperature is about 15 degrees celcius.

  • Wow it's beautiful. Is it parasitic?

  • No I don't think so. I think it eats algae, and i read somewhere that it eats gnat larve's, but i haven't actually seen him eat that.

  • Thanks! I might do that because it seems interesting ^^.

But I found a couple of biology supply companies which sell live stock which will probably be more convenient.

They sell them in packs of 30(intended to be purchased by teachers I assume), which is sort of inconvenient in terms of storage, esp. if they decide to reproduce(afaik they can reproduce both asexually and sexually?).

    I'm pondering over solutions.

    Thanks again ^^. Appreciated :).

  • There are few unregistered species of Phagocata in Iran.

  • they have cute little eyes

  • you should try to like cut it, cause then it would have 2 heads, or just make 2 or 3 of them.

  • no you don't

  • it' s predator

  • I believe it also eats boiled egg and liver.
