@fattywhitey You get a lot of exercise jumping to conclusions. BTW, you're one to talk about ad hominem attacks. Do you know what that means?
-
@fattywhitey See Simon Magus in Acts 8 for someone who was associated with the Holy Spirit, but not filled with the Holy Spirit. "Tasted the goodness of the Word of God" refers to seeing the miracles, signs and wonders of the apostles and denying Jesus as the Christ. There were Jews who witnessed the resurrected Lazarus and denied Christ. They saw the blind given sight, the lame made to walk and the deaf made to hear and denied Jesus as the Christ. After that, their repentance became impossible.

@fattywhitey "tasted of the heavenly gift" doesn't mean they feasted on it. Doesn't mean they drank in Christ, they just got a little taste of what Christ was about. It's that simple. That's what the Greek says there. "Shared in the Holy Spirit" that term "shared" or "partakers" is a term of association, not possession. They were not possessed by the Holy Spirit, they were associated with Him. They could not have been saved, or they would have most assuredly been possessed by, baptized in Him.

@fattywhitey then you're saying that if it were possible for a believer to lose his/her salvation, that person would be damned forever. You have to say that, because it goes on to say that this person cannot be brough again to repentance. This simply cannot be talking about a believer losing his/her salvation. There is nothing in the context nor the original language that even hints that the writer of Hebrews is addressing followers of Christ. Still with me?

@fattywhitey Strap on your thinking cap. The word "enlightened" in no way indicates salvation. It is a term that refers to mental understanding and nothing more. Just because one comes to the point of understanding the gospel on an intellectual level does not mean that person is saved. Hebrews 2 tells us that these Jews saw the signs, wonders and miracles and accepted intellectually, but there is no indication of repentance. If you're going to assign this verse in chapter 6 to believers . . .

@fattywhitey Tell us,can God's will be thwarted?

@CBALLEN How much money? Are you an insider? Great argument. Now we know CBALLEN is the true theologian. Ad hominem attacks rule. How about his cowlick and homebrew haircut. That's his real problem. He doesn't wear a pimp suit, so he must not be a real preacher, right?
-
@CBALLEN Ever heard of context?

@metanoeo1 Brilliant. Great argument. You must really be frustrated. How about dealing with Hebrews six, which is the text.
He began with, "let's use our brain", then he didn't use it! This man needs to repent of his pride, thinking that he had anything to do with his saving grace. God was merciful. We know from Scripture alone, we were saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone, and Grace was the work and purpose of Christ alone to the glory of God alone. 5 Solas of The Reformation: Sola Scriptura,Sola Gratia,Solus Fide, Solus Christos,Soli Deo Gloria. Read @metanoeo's scripture references. μετανοεῖτε καὶ πιστεύετε!

@ONEOVER99 we are not part of the reformation.
We existed BEFORE the reformation and BEFORE the Catholic Church.
