The op. 64 was one of Scriabin's favorite pieces. Although dissonant & unfamiliar, it contains idiosyncratic harmonies, thunderous sonorities & a restless voluptuous theme that is trying to find a way throughout the whole piece.
This was recorded in 1972 for Melodiya. The piano used for the recording is a Bechstein.

  • This sonata no.7 Op.64 should be called "Black Mass", as sonata no.9, Op.68 is called "White Mass" instead.

  • Per nostra grande fortuna, la casa discografica MELODYA ha conservato in buono stato sonoro, queste incisioni della leggendaria scuola pianistica dei grandi intepreti russi. Igor Zhukov mette le proprie dita miracolose al servizio di questi capolavori di Skriabin, con una dedizione e una creatività esecutiva, che lasciano senza parole, per la bravura trascendentale e per l'interpretazione ricca di "enigmatici misteri dell'armonia, dell'impasto timbrico e delle sonorità" !!!!
