yea thats prolly it, well seeing as you are a 1.7 owner maybe you can help me ? i am acquiring my first 914 in about 2 weeks! its a 1970 1.7. what do you suggest is do to improve my performance slightly? i was thinking conversion from Djet fuel injection to Web carb. and a performance intake...but i dont wanna spend much other than that but then again thats why im asking someone who already knows about this :P thanks and again nice ride~!
I still run Djet. I have only slightly opened intake and exhaust flow with these mods. I like the sound better than the stock rattling VW exhaust. I get better throttle and power response, but probably negligible HP gain. Using Djet cam, carbs will be held back from full potential. I'm not really one to give advice on this-- I follow advice from the 914World or 914Club websites. You may want to ask your question at one of those sites

Thanks. It is a 1.7 with 2.0 SSI H/E and Triad dual out exhaust. You're probably hearing some induction sound from K&N intake conversion, too.
