  • @pipesmoker67 I am union and I never tell a customer I'm on break, even if I am. If I am going to my break and a customer asks me a question I make sure they get an answer and then continue to my break. I never tell people "That's not my job". What I say is "I don't know. I only work in x department, would you like me to get somebody who can help you?"

  • @goodgoodgoodful It is a form of country music called "talking blues" which was invented in the 1920s by Chris Bouchillon. From wikipedia: "Talking blues is a form of country music. It is characterized by rhythmic speech or near-speech where the melody is free, but the rhythm is strict."

The first talking blues song, "Talking Blues" by Chris Bouchillon can be found on youtube if u seach 4 it. It won't let me post links on here ;) Yes, it is sort of like an early form of rap...

  • We need to find effective peaceful methods to get the indifferent and apathetic people involved. Throughout history they have been obstacles to the progress of humanity. Sometimes, I feel like sending them to a land ruled by despots.

  • @pipesmoker67 I hear those phrases from a lot of nonunion people, too. Funny, right?

  • The most common phrases I here out of a union workers mouth are " I'm on break" and "That's not my job". Yet, you don't have to agree with someone's politics to enjoy their music. I love the old, corny guy.

  • This is awesome thanks for sharing it. I recently ran across another awesome site for union history. It's a facebook account called the Redneck Party I never knew where the term redneck came from & I will never again think of it as the derogatory term that has become the definition for many. The rednecks who fought for working peoples rights deserve much more respect than that. Look it up look through the photo album & read the captions, get some tissues, you'll need them.
