  • One question: Is Dr. Ashton a Scientologist? I'm not sure. Does she know that Scientology-backed "benzo support" sites are using her manual as a bible?

  • @TheHunTwo That is alarming... Did you taper off slowly or go cold turkey? What kind of symptoms are you still having, if you don't mind letting me know?  I hope you start feeling better very soon and I'm sorry that you've had to go through this ordeal.

  • The VA is handing this $hit out like candy! Four years now W.D. and still having bad bouts caused by these nasty drugs. Take these drugs and welcome to hell.

  • for some people...i think cannabis has a purpose. It took me two years to detox. I was bedridden. I now run 5 kms everyday. I am no longer derpessed. I have my life back. My message? It absolutely can be done. I am free of all pharmacueticals after 23

    years....:)

  • @hoffmanandy comparison to the withdrawal symptoms. Benzo's are great short term treatments in cases of severe anxiety, but they should not be relied upon people! Treat the underlying cause of the anxiety through usually psychotherapy and you'll be much much better off in the long term. I see lots of patients addicted to Benzo's, it's not good!

    Drug tolerance: An increasing amount of the drug must be administered to obtain the required effect. This can occur because the body up-regulates certain enzymes to increase metabolism (metabolic tolerance) or through drug induced insensitivity of the receptors or target sites upon which the drug acts (tissue tolerance).

    Psychological and physiological dependence become a problem, ever increasing amounts of medication required to try and treat the original symptom which pales in
