Johnny was very paticular about his theme song. He was a big band/swing music expert and amateur drummer himself and auditioned several themes, before picking the melody of an old Paul Anka song which Johnny had a hand in rearrainging. Jay Leno and Dave Letterman, however, admitted they knew little about music and let their respective bandleaders come up with their themes.
