Cheap Trick es una banda de rock de los Estados Unidos, formada en Rockford, Illinois, que ganó popularidad a finales de la década de los 70.

Está formada por cuatro integrantes que están vigentes hasta el día de hoy, éstos son:

Rick Nielsen: Guitarra y voz

Robin Zander: Guitarra y voz

Tom Petersson: Bajo

Bun E. Carlos: Batería

Se destacaban por su estilo Rock, Arena Rock, Hard Rock, New Wave y Power Pop.

Su sello discográfico es Atlantic Records.

Sus ex-integrantes fueron: Randy "Xeno" Hogan, Pete Comita, Jon Brant y Daxx Nielsen.

Lograron el éxito en Japón antes que en su país natal, llenando el Estadio Budokan y grabando un disco en vivo "Live at the Budokan" el cual registro altísimas ventas, por lo cual empezaron a ser reconocidos en la Union Americana.

Sus canciones más conocidas son "I want you to want me", "Dream police", y el cuasi himno generacional de los adolescentes W.A.S.P de los suburbios de clase media: "Surrender" (una exploración pop a los problemas típicos de los jovenes).

Aparentemente su estilo era inocuo (una mezcla de Hard Rock y Power Pop) pero lograron influenciar a toda una generación de nuevas bandas que los mencionan siempre como una fuerte inspiración en su formación musical: Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins y Fountains of Wayne entre otros.

  • Awesome song, I just watched Heavy Metal last night on TCM. I remember this movie when I was in the 10th grade 1981. 80's rock was and still is the best music ever conceived all hands down!!!!!! I saw them around this time at the New Orleans Superdome "2nd Annual Day of Rock- n- Roll" I was 15 had a fake ID ordered from a magazine offer and was drinking quart sized beer at this event had lots of fun...... Cheap Trick, Foreigner, Eagles, and Christopher Cross was the lineup for that night.....
