Yeah, I thinks it captures all the ambiguities of family love, even at its best--we love you, we want what's best for you--but we want to control you--we'll reject you if you rebel too much--I need you to love me!--We do love you, but you're being a jerk--we'll meet on down the line--but it won't be the same. there's lots wrong with me, but i still love this. especially because i can't put my finger on it...lots of ghosts seem to be dredged up, from adolescence, from deep layers of memory and experience. if i was zinging along past this planet like some touristy meteor out to see the universe, i'd hope to overhear this tune while i sped by... i might circle about for five minutes.
