"I Only Want to Be with You" written by Mike Hawker and Ivor Raymonde was the first solo single released by British singer Dusty Springfield on Philips Records in November 1963. It rose to #4 in the British charts[19] and #12 on Billboard Hot 100. It is one of those songs, like Skeeter Davis' "I Can't Stay Mad At You" that makes you feel good.

  • She had a very tough life. Rough and unhappy for the most part. Being gay during her era was very tough.

  • @rockville34 You are certainly correct. Dying of breast cancer at a young age was the final blow.

  • Man when I was 13 I had such a crush on her...puberty started

  • @buffspringfield Well, no one can blame you. She was a good looking woman.

  • she wasn't a real lez she just had a few flings with various chicks but she mostly liked guys.. that would be par for the couse with most of the girls in the biz today.so no big deal !!

  • I was in the third grade when this song came out and I have loved it ever since. I grew up listening to this music and I am teaching my grandchildren to love it as well. It is wonderful to see my baby granddaughter start dancing as soon as she hears the song start. It does my heart good.
